Every Friday you get free admission to the only museum and educational center for home furnishings in the world. That's right - free. Information: Office hours: Mon.-Fri., 9am-5pm. This castle is a restored gold refinery listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1832 and restored in mid-1980, the castle is a granite structure with a drawbridge, moat and a 70-foot tower. The Crystal Garden, built in 1997, is reminiscent of Victorian times with beveled glass walls, a crystal chandelier and a lovely veranda with a commanding view of the castle across the lake. This beautiful, secluded property is used for weddings/receptions, corporate and other private events. Information: More than 200 acres and 28 monuments of soldiers, statesmen, and patriots of the American Revolution honoring the site of the March 15, 1781 battle. Visitors can enjoy recently premired projects telling the park story. Park activities include a self-guided auto tour (audiotape tour available) and colorful, informational on-site exhibits. Visitor center activities include a 30-minute dramatic, live-action film (shown on the hour); an animated battle map program; and information-packed museum exhibits featuring original Revolutionary War weaponry and artifacts. Information: Operated by the Greensboro Parks & Recreation Department, this 7.5 acre park was the 18th-century farmstead of Joseph Hoskins. Hoskins served the Guilford County community as a constable, tax collector and sheriff. During the Revolutionary War Battle of Guilford Courhouse, Hoskins' land served as a staging area for British troops under Cornwallis' command. The Colonial Heritage Center offers a variety of exhibits depicting life in colonial Guilford County. Living history programs are scheduled throughout the year. Information: This 36,000-square-foot structure features a standard 200- by 85-foot ice surface. You'll find bi-level seating, four enclosed locker rooms with showers, three multipurpose rooms, a full-service snack bar and pro shop. The Ice Chalet is the official practice facility for the Generals, an East Coast Hockey League team. A wide variety of programs and events are available, including adult and youth hockey leagues and tournaments, figure skating lessons, clinics and daily public skating sessions.
